In order to understand how dynamic this new lifestyle is going to be for me, I thought it would be interesting to show what an average day is like for me.
So after casually waking up at 1:34PM, which is mostly in due to the part that I didn't set an alarm and didn't get much sleep the night before, and was craving a big meal.
I saw that we had onions, and I have been craving caramelized onions since I saw them, so I decided to make a burger with caramelized onions on top.
Usually at school, I brew a pot of coffee for the day, but at home we have a Keurig, so I had some WIDE AWAKE coffee and put white chocolate flavored creamer in it.
SO GOOD.
So basically, you just cut off the ends of an onion, cut it in half, and peel it.
Slice the onion as thick as you want. I really like the flavor of a caramelized onion, but I hate any crunch, so my slices were super thin.
Then, to some melted butter and oil, add the onions and cook them over a low heat until they start to get translucent and start loosening up.
It'll start to look like this. (Click on the pictures to make them bigger)
OMG DELICIOUS |
I honestly ended up snacking on the onions when I was cooking the burger, so that's why there aren't many onions on my end result.
I pushed the meat too hard. OOPS! |
I marinated my burger in A1 Steak Sauce, worcestershire sauce, and a Jack Daniels BBQ sauce.
Then cooking it in the onion butter/oil, cooked it on medium high heat for a few minutes on both sides.
I'm kind of a spaz when it comes to making sure that my meat is cooked all the way through, but I like my food to be medium-rare, so I always end up breaking up my burgers and eat them with a fork.
My family loves Disney. |
The final product!
What was interesting about this whole cooking experience is that this is the first meal that I've cooked since I've decided to become a vegetarian.
I never realized how greasy meat was and I used a spatter protecter to prevent the grease from spraying everywhere, and while the burger was delicious, I honestly would have been fine with just eating the onions on top because they tasted better because that's what I was craving.
I'm so excited to begin this new chapter in my life.
I feel like it's going to challenge me to not be bored and to not settle, and hopefully, I'll end up being a healthier person after.
That's all for now!
Until later,
Bobby
